As we forego some of the luxuries of the American dream, we'll look back and remind ourselves what a fabulous place San Francisco is and how good it will be to return to friends and fancy living

• First few days kicking back in Fiji, snorkeling and looking forward to the big adventure
• New Zealand - 3 major multi-day hikes: Nelson lakes; Heaphy Track; Milford Track
• Thailand - Cooking classes & massage
• Vietnam - 1 month of exploring temples, train journeys and seeing all the culture that this incredible country has to offer
• Cambodia - Angor Wat temples and landmines
• Malaysia - Perehentian Islands, going back and visiting islands that i've not seen in over 10 years
• Sabah - up close-ish with Orangutans
• UK - Caroline's sister's wedding
• Norway & Sweden - Fjords and Fika (coffee n cake)
• Eastern Europe - Trekking in Dracula country and former soviet cities
• Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica - Mayan and Aztec temples
• Ecuador - Cycling down volcanoes
• Peru - Not sinking in the Amazon with piranhas this time
• Bolivia - Following in the footsteps of Butch & Sundance
• Argentina - Mendoza wine, Lake district mountains and Buenos Aries
• Chile & Patagonia - Stunning Torres del Paine and Fitzroy

Getting ready for the trip

Welcome to Caroline and Gary's world trip blog!

So, with 2 months and counting to our one year world tour, we are beginning to panic with all the things to get done before we go. The to-do list is 177 lines long (down from 185 a week ago).

Sold the coffee table this week - felt like a monumental step towards January 1st, our departure date.
